Our Mission
Vision:
Sight Savers' vision is of a world in which no-one is needlessly
blind and where everyone who is irreversibly blind or severely
visually-impaired enjoys the same rights, responsibilities and
opportunities as people who are sighted.
Mission:
Sight Savers is dedicated to combating blindness in developing
countries, primarily in the Commonwealth, by working with partner
organisations in poor and the least served communities to support
ongoing activities that prevent and cure blindness, restore sight
and provide services to blind people.
Values:
Sight Savers aspires to live by the following values:
- We believe
that everyone has the right to sight.
- We speak
out to support and defend people's right to sight and the right
of blind people in the developing world to live a life of independence.
- We approach
our work on the basis of mutual respect, valuing diversity and
recognising the innate worth and opinion of all people.
- We work
in a spirit of collaboration with local communities and other
organisations.
- We are
accountable for our actions and honest and transparent in our
communications with others.
- We are
open-minded, creative and challenging and aim for constant improvement
in our work.
